Happy New Year – New Year Celebrations Around the World for grades 3 - 5

This lesson assigns students to research the new year celebrations of many countries. Very helpful online resources are listed and linked. Students present their findings to the class; students use a chart (included) to compare and contrast all the different holidays.

Then students plan a travel itinerary to go visit as many of the new year celebratons as possible.

Evaluation ruberic included, and several links to “for fun” pages and new year clipart.
